and NJSLA-S Information for Grade 5

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT DUE TO THE HEALTH-RELATED SCHOOL CLOSURE IN THE SPRING OF 2020, THE NJDOE DID CANCEL STATE TESTING FOR 19-20 SCHOOL YEAR.
This year (2019-2020), students in grades 3-5 at Milford Brook will be taking the NJSLA-ELA assessment and the NJSLA-M assessment per the following schedule:
ELA: May 5th and May 6th (Makeups in the following days)Math: May 12th, 13th, and 14th (Makeups in the following days)**Grade 5 students will also be taking the NJSLA-S which measures science knowledge on May 19th and May 20th (Makeups to follow).The NJSLA-ELA measures student proficiency with grade level skills, knowledge and concepts that are critical to college and career readiness. On each assessment, students read and analyze passages from authentic fiction and nonfiction texts. The test can also include multimedia stimuli such as video or audio. The NJSLA-ELA
assessments emphasize the importance of close reading, synthesizing ideas within and across texts, determining the meaning of words and phrases in context and writing at every grade.The NJSLA-M measures student proficiency with grade or course level skills, knowledge, practices and concepts that are critical to college and career readiness. On each assessment, students will face a mixture of objective items assessing content and practice and constructed-response items requiring the application of
