Welcome Back, Wildcats!
September 5, 2019
Welcome Back, Wildcats! We sincerely hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable summer! We are thrilled that so many of our children were participating in our Scholastic reading challenge and working to prevent the “Summer Slide.”
Ms. Brown and I are fortunate to have such an outstanding staff of educators and support teams who are truly dedicated to the well-being of our students. The vast knowledge and skills our educators possess coupled with their compassionate and caring personalities are two reasons Wemrock Brook is a school in which students flourish and enjoy to come each and every day! Together the parents and staff form a strong team that will help guide our students through their educational journey. At Wemrock Brook School, “We Believe in Success” and look forward to working together with you, the students, and the staff to make this year an outstanding educational experience for your child. By working together as a team, we will continue to create a nurturing and challenging environment in which all students can succeed!
We are SO excited to offer our students new and exciting experiences. Over the summer, a sensory hallway was installed thanks to a grant from the Foundation for MERS. Additionally, through the support from our amazing community, we were able to construct the Liegi’s Learning Garden, an outdoor space for students to learn and grow. We have many other activities planned throughout the year, and we encourage everyone to be part of the memories.
This year, we will continue to operate on a six day schedule. Genesis will continue to be utilized as our new Student Information System. Please check your child’s book bag and review the information located on the Genesis Parent Portal if you have not already. Please review our Student/Parent Handbook which contains valuable information regarding our school’s policies and procedures. This can be found on the school website (www.mersnj.us/wb) and in the student planner (Grades 2-5). By adhering to our school procedures, you are helping to ensure the safety of every child and staff member in the building and on school grounds as well as to maintain the instructional integrity of our educational programs.
Look for information on joining the Wemrock Brook PTA! We work as partners to enhance the children’s educational success. Their fundraising efforts provide additional materials and supplies to enhance our educational program. I encourage you to join us at our monthly PTA meetings. Our first PTA meeting is on September 19th at 9:30am in the Wemrock Brook Cafeteria.
A few important additional reminders:
- Since we utilize the automated “Pay for It” system in our cafeteria, it is imperative that all students learn and memorize their student ID numbers that they will use when purchasing a lunch or snack. Students who pay cash also need to enter their ID number, so it is critical that they practice and memorize this number to speed up the process in the cafeteria.
- Expect some minor bus delays the first week of school. Bus delays throughout the year are posted on the district website.
- Look for more information regarding Back-to-School Night on Tuesday, September 17th. At this annual event, you will meet your child’s teacher and to learn about his/her educational program.
We look forward to a school year filled with inquiry, learning and a variety of memorable experiences.
